CRAFTING TOOLS and ORGANIZATION

Paper crafters have many choices when it comes to tools needed for the craft.  '

Here a few must have basic items: 12' Trimmer, scissors, adhesive (tape runner) and black pen (archival ink).

For the more advanced scrapbooker they may have a few other pieces of equipment in their arsenal such as; Cricut Machine, Vagabond, Cuddlebug, and Xyron products .

I my self began small with the basics and my tools have grown well beyond the more advanced.  What I quick found was that I need tools to help me organize the items I have.

ORGANIZING SUPPLIES

I began with was the Crop-n-Style totes.  That was short lived as my tools and equipment began to expand.\ and grow.  I am now using "Scrap Rack".  This organizer helps me every step of the way when scrapbooking and creating a story.  I followed the steps and tips provided by Tiffany of Totally Tiffany Scrap Storage. Here is what I did to get a handle on all the supplies, tools and crafting stuff. I purchased a Scrap Rack.  What this video for a quick lesson on organizing your craft.

*****Just a note, No compensation was received from the above list  of sites, vendors or products. The items and products listed above,  I have purchased and not solicited for feedback, promotion or compensation.*****

My next small project .... I need some help creating a title for these pictures.  Please comment with either a one-liner or cute quote to help me create titles for my scrapbook page.  Here are the photos

Digital Photo Books and Scrapbooks

Each and every day technology is improving.  We have telephones that auto redial.  We have cameras that zoom, remove red eye and of course digital photography which allows you to immediately see the images.  Digital photos are changing with every passing picture.  A few years ago began a trend of digital scrapbooking.

Now digital software is longer so expensive it is only used by marketing and advertising companies, it has became available to the every day crafty enthusiast.  The most popular software is Adobe Photoshop.  You can use this software to create digital scrapbooks.  You don't have to shy away from trying out this digital adventure there are plenty of people to help.

Becky Higgins of course does a wonderful job sharing how to create a  Digital Project Life photo book.  Just know you don't have to create a scrapbook can also create a slide show with your digital photos.

Smile box provides simple instructions and guidelines to help you create a stunning slideshow with your photos.  Imagine that you can see your personal picture displayed with just a few simple steps. Be inspired by the photos you've taken.  Display the beauty you have captured in the moment.

Another great tool for the beginner is to create a photo book with Shutterfly (www.shutterfly.com)  or Snapfish (Digital Photo book done with a template).  You can upload the photos add them to a template and have it printed an ready for display when it arrives.  Plan ahead for a very special Father's Day gift dad will surely love.

Storytelling - Vacation and Heritage

LET'S TELL A STORY!

Our family has been to Walt Disney World almost every year for the past 18 years.  We have such great memories.  Each year has been an adventure and loaded with lots of stories.  Because I wanted to share my story and I wanted to share in the celebration of someone else's story, I decided to join a traveling Disney Story Book.

First, I created a theme for my book. The theme was "Dream it and Live it at Walt Disney World".  I wanted to share my Disney Dream and hear dreams of others.  Here is how my story began.

I asked the Disney scrapbook group to share a Disney Dream. I wanted to know what Disney Dream did they live? The visions were incredible and the stories were special. I was able to capture the  moment in the stories and photos that were shared.

Because, I wanted them to share their story;  I found that the story can be told in different ways.  Some just with a title like “Make a Wish” with a picture of Cinderella’s Castle. Others enjoy the sparkle of Mickey Mouse and in the Fantasmic firework display.  I had one dreamer who enjoyed the Disney Cruise. She shared a story with water background on paper and shared her experience of the breathtaking ship and ocean views an adventure her family enjoyed at sea.  Story are so personal and can captivate someone attention when told whether with words or pictures it will still be special.

Tell me your story....

Learn to capture precious moments

Leaning to capture precious moments can be simple.  My first experience with creating and capturing the moments, came in 2007. I attended what was called CKU, Creating Keepsakes University. It was AWESOME!

The convention consisted of classes that helped you appreciate the art of scrapbooking.  However, scrapbooking is not just pictures and decorated pages.  It tells a story, a life story.

I had the privilege of being a part of classes such as; The Fabric of your life, Shooting through the ages and One Day, One Week, One Month, One Year.  These classes helped me truly understand what it meant to see the moments that truly create the memory.

I was able to meet Becky Higgins at a similar event the prior year.  Becky Higgins is a pioneer in creating projects out of life.  You can follow Becky on twitter @BeckyHigginsLLC . Check out the links for a short youtube video on Project Life by Becky Higgins.

While Becky helps you understand moments and making them memories, Capture a moment photography captures the moments with pictures.  Check out the beautifully created memory moments at  Capture a Momenet Photography blog with a lot of great moments captured with a snapshot.

What memory or moment can you capture today??

Scrap your photo story

Do you have photos around that you look at and think of a story?

Why not create a memorable scrapbook page or post to tell your photo story.
Here is a sample of what you can do or not do with a simple photo.  The cars don't have a stop light but, they wait

Many times we take pictures and as we begin to show the pictures to others we need to describe what is happening in the picture. Some descriptions are a little more elaborate than others.  We want to share the moments with others that are captured in the picture.

Scrapbooking is a way to decorate and add inspiration and information to pictures.  Sometimes, a few words is all you need to tell the story, but not always.  A few words can capture a quick laugh or questionable thought.

Here is the story behind the photo taken while on vacation.

In Rome, there are police officers on pedestals in the street and they direct traffic.  The pedestals rise from the street, the officer steps on and the traffic becomes attentive to the direction of the white gloves on the officer’s hands, as they wait their turn to proceed. A simple caption can be digitally added for a more modern fun picture or some description can give the sights found on a vacation to Italy.

You can chose how to have fun with words and pictures, but just capturing the moment and share it with someone.
